Hi, I’m Aaron McCarter FRSA FCMI, and I build L&D strategies that actually make commercial sense.
Throughout my career as a Learning and Development and Diversity & Inclusion professional , I have partnered with high-growth international operations spanning from London to Paris and Dubai. But long before I was scaling global training functions for major brands, I was an entrepreneur.
From Radio Waves to Global Operations In 2012, I founded East London Radio. As part of that venture, I established a community training academy that was recognised as a best-practice case study by Creative Skillset. That foundational experience taught me how to build operational capability from the ground up—moving fast, engaging teams, and delivering results.
Since then, I have led the L&D functions for incredibly fast-paced, high-volume businesses, including Ocado Group, Gousto, The Bread Factory (GAIL’s), a high profile virtual show in London, and Frive. My roles have involved everything from designing a global learning strategy for a 25,000-strong workforce to pioneering VR/AR training for engineering teams, and standardising digital SOPs to guarantee seamless compliance.
Why I Consult I launched this consultancy because I saw a recurring problem: too many training programmes are full of corporate fluff and entirely detached from the daily reality of the factory floor, the retail shop, or the engineering site.
I am a distinctly commercially driven, P&L-accountable, and EBITDA-conscious L&D leader. I believe that upskilling your workforce should never be a tick-box exercise; it should optimise operational efficiency and directly drive bottom-line business impact.
The Official Credentials I am incredibly proud to have been awarded two major fellowships in recognition of my extensive leadership, training, and management expertise:
FRSA: Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, awarded in 2015.
FCMI: Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute, awarded in 2021.
Titles aside, my true passion lies in rolling up my sleeves, untangling your operational headaches, and turning your brilliant frontline staff into highly capable leaders.
I don't just deliver training; I build strategic, commercially driven Learning & Development functions that directly impact your bottom line. Whether you are a fast-scaling franchise or a complex manufacturing operation, here is how we upskill your teams at pace:
Phase 1: Commercial Alignment & Strategy
The Approach: We start by aligning every L&D initiative with your strict commercial objectives. I bring a P&L-accountable and EBITDA-conscious mindset to ensure our training strategy expands organisational capability whilst optimising operational efficiency.
The Proof: I have successfully designed foundational global L&D strategies for high-growth international operations, ensuring brand protection and rapid scalability.
Phase 2: Digitisation & SOP Standardisation
The Approach: Cutting through operational chaos by implementing complex Learning Management Systems (LMS) and introducing standardised, digital Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This guarantees seamless compliance and audit readiness.
The Proof: By leveraging AI tools for multimedia documentation and Google’s approval workflows, I have previously increased documentation output speed by 80% and drastically improved accuracy. At Frive, my LMS launch achieved 95% user engagement and mandatory training completion within just six weeks.
Phase 3: High-Paced Upskilling & Management Capability
The Approach: We turn your best operational hands into highly capable leaders. I design bespoke management development programmes and establish clear career pathways to foster long-term retention. To accelerate speed-to-competency, we utilise internal Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and self-led learning methods.
The Proof: My approach to self-led, multilingual video training reduced learning time by 50% and improved packing accuracy by 90% at Gousto. At the virtual show, these targeted methods reduced overall learning time by 75%, and at The Bread Factory, my structured L&D pathways slashed 90-day staff attrition from 80% down to 30%.
Phase 4: Maximising Budget & ROI
The Approach: Effective training should reduce your costs, not inflate them. I specialise in delivering high-ROI training solutions by optimising external supplier relationships and strategically maximising available funding.
The Proof: I have a proven track record of securing substantial cost savings for businesses, including a £45,000 annual saving at Frive by bringing compliance training in-house, and saving up to £100,000 annually at Ocado Engineering by pioneering localised VR/AR training to eliminate travel expenses.
